CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE, Mississippi-born, Grammy-winning musician, received his legendary blues training on Chicago’s Maxwell Street with Johnny Young and Robert Nighthawk, often playing on the South side of Chicago with Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and others before making the San Francisco scene in the sixties playing the Fillmore. In 1966, he recorded his landmark album “Stand Back,” later playing on Grammy-winning albums by Bonnie Raitt and The Blind Boys of Alabama, appearing on Tom Waits’s record “Mule Variations,” and is now considered one of the most gifted blues legends working.
