Michael S. Schmidt is a Washington correspondent for The New York Times who writes about national security. In the past year, his coverage has focused on Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into links between Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia, and whether the president obstructed justice. He was part of the team that won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. In 2017 he co-authored the stories that outlined how the former Fox News host, Bill O’Reilly, paid off a series of women who made sexual harassment allegations against him.
